Data Retention Policies

Configure data retention policies for audit logs, activity data, and deleted items to manage storage and ensure compliance.

Data Retention Overview

Configure how long your organization's data is stored before being automatically deleted. This helps manage storage costs and comply with data regulations.

Retention Policies

You can set different retention periods for different types of data:

  • Audit Logs - 30 days, 90 days, 1 year, or custom

  • Activity Data - 30 days, 90 days, 1 year, or custom

  • Deleted Items - Immediate, 30 days, or custom

  • User Data - When members leave your organization

Configuring Retention Policies

  1. Go to SettingsOrganizationData Retention

  2. For each data type, select a retention period

  3. Click Save changes

Changes take effect immediately, but data already past the new retention period may take up to 24 hours to be deleted.

Compliance Considerations

Data retention policies help you comply with regulations such as:

  • GDPR - Right to be forgotten

  • CCPA - Consumer data deletion

  • HIPAA - Healthcare data retention limits

  • SOX - Financial record retention

Backup and Recovery

Data that has been deleted due to retention policies is permanently removed. Ensure you have appropriate backup strategies if you need to retain data beyond AppGram's retention limits.

Custom Retention Periods

For specific compliance requirements, you can set custom retention periods for each data type. Contact support if you need assistance configuring custom policies.
