Setting up your first feedback board

Learn how to create your first feedback board, configure widget settings, and organize feedback with categories.

Overview

A feedback board allows your users to submit feature requests, vote on existing ideas, and help shape your product roadmap. Setting up your first board is quick and straightforward.

Prerequisites

  • A project created in your organization

  • Admin or owner permissions

Step 1: Create Your Project

  1. Navigate to your dashboard and select your organization

  2. Click Projects in the sidebar

  3. Click Create Project

  4. Enter your project details:

    • Name: A descriptive name for your project (e.g., "Mobile App")

    • Slug: URL-friendly identifier (e.g., "mobile-app")

    • Description: Brief explanation of what this project represents

  5. Click Create

Step 2: Configure Basic Settings

After creating your project, you can configure widget settings:

  • Position: Choose where the feedback widget appears (bottom-left, bottom-right, etc.)

  • Primary color: Match your brand colors

  • Button text: Customize the feedback button label (default: "Feedback")

  • Placeholder text: Set the prompt for users (e.g., "What feature would you like?")

  • Success message: Customize the confirmation text after submission

Step 3: Set Up Categories

Categories help organize feedback and make it easier to navigate:

  1. Go to your project's Categories section

  2. Click Create Category

  3. Fill in the category details:

    • Name: Category title (e.g., "Feature Request", "Bug Report", "Integration")

    • Slug: URL-friendly identifier

    • Color: Assign a visual color for easy identification

    • Icon: Choose an icon to represent the category

    • Description: Optional explanation of what belongs in this category

Step 4: Test Your Board

  1. Visit the public portal URL for your project

  2. Try submitting a test wish/feature request

  3. Verify it appears in your admin dashboard

  4. Test voting functionality

Understanding Wish Statuses

Wishes move through different statuses as they progress:

  • Pending: New submission awaiting review

  • Under Review: Team is evaluating the request

  • Planned: Feature approved for future implementation

  • In Progress: Currently being developed

  • Completed: Feature has been released

  • Declined: Request will not be implemented

Next Steps

Once your board is set up, you can:

  • Customize voting and categories

  • Embed feedback widgets

  • Manage and triage feedback
