Building Survey Questions

Learn how to create and configure different types of survey questions with branching logic.

Adding Questions

1. In the Survey Builder, click the "Add Question" button in the header
2. The Question Editor will slide open from the right side
3. Select your question type and configure the question details
4. Click "Create Question" to save

Question Types

Yes/No

Binary choice questions that support branching logic for each answer. Ideal for decision trees and qualification questions.

Short Answer

Single-line text input. Great for names, emails, or brief responses.

Paragraph

Multi-line text area. Use for detailed feedback, comments, or explanations.

Multiple Choice

Single selection from predefined options. Users can only choose one answer.

Checkboxes

Multiple selections from predefined options. Users can select multiple answers.

Rating

Numeric scale question. Configure minimum and maximum values (e.g., 1-5 stars). Perfect for satisfaction scores.

Question Configuration

• Question Text: The actual question shown to users
• Mandatory Response: When enabled, users must answer this question to continue
• Success State: Optional message shown when this question is the final node

Special Configurations by Type

Rating Questions

Configure the scale range:

• Minimum Value: Lowest possible rating (default: 1)
• Maximum Value: Highest possible rating (default: 5)

Multiple Choice & Checkboxes

Add response options:

• Click "Add Option" to create a new choice
• Enter the option label
• Click the trash icon to remove an option
• At least 2 options are required

Branching Logic

Create dynamic survey paths by connecting questions:

• Yes/No Questions: Connect different nodes to "Yes" and "No" answers
• All Other Types: Connect to the "Next" node to continue the flow
• Questions with connections show a "Linked" indicator in the question tree

1. Open the Visual Logic Canvas
2. Drag from a question's connection handle to another question
3. Click the Save button in the canvas toolbar to save connections

Editing Questions

• Click on a question in the Question Tree to select it
• Click the menu icon (three dots) on the question card
• Select "Edit Content" to modify the question
• Changes are saved when you click "Update Changes"

Deleting Questions

• Click the menu icon on the question card
• Select "Remove Question"
• Confirm the deletion
• All connections to/from this question will be removed

Best Practices

• Keep surveys concise for higher completion rates
• Use branching logic to create personalized experiences
• Test your survey in preview mode before going live
• Set appropriate scales for rating questions (1-5 is standard)
• Use required questions sparingly to avoid drop-offs
